          Building a Deck, Made Easy

Building a deck is a fantastic way to increase the value of your home and get more use out of your outdoor space. Hancock’s deck packages make starting this project simple. Choose the deck material that’s right for you and contact our building package experts for up-to-date estimate on basic decking materials costs. We’ll then work with you to further customize your deck components based on size and discuss any specific needs for your project to come to life. Once we’ve nailed down a final materials list, you can order your deck package to be delivered straight to your home within our delivery areas throughout Maine and New Hampshire, or pick it up from one of our local lumber yards.

          On Demand Deck Supplies Quotes

The market for building materials is always changing and we want to make sure you have the most accurate sense of pricing when choosing a deck package. When you submit a quote request for any of our deck packages, our specialists will put together an up-to-date estimate for ground contact framing lumber, decking, flashing, balusters, and joist hangers.

Please note that initial deck package quotes do not include footings and stair materials as site specific elevation is needed to determine these requirements for each deck. Our deck packages do not include site preparation or installation but we’re happy to help direct you to the next step in building a deck for your home.

Understanding Different Types of Building Packages

Whether you’re looking to add a deck, detached garage, or build a whole home, if you’re not a builder or lumber specialist, building packages can be confusing! Here’s a quick definition of the different types.

Stick Built Package: The Hancock Lumber building packages include a full set of stock plans with noted building materials supplied and delivered. Materials are not precut. Pre-assembled trusses are available for most stock packages. Initial pricing is quoted on base materials and specific products can be swapped out to suit personal preference. Hancock’s building packages are stick built.

Building Kits: Kits are preplanned homes, garages, or decks with full set of plans, instructions and the materials precut, marked, mapped and figured out for you. Kits are more expensive than stick-built packages and offer fewer opportunities for customization but can make building quick and easy. Hancock Lumber’s stock packages do not offer a building kit solution.

Prefab Construction: Prefab indicates elements of the package are partially manufactured at another site and delivered to your property. Walls and trusses are already assembled and arrive with a full set of plans and map for assembly. These are typically more expensive than stick-built construction as they incorporate labor costs for pre-assembly. Hancock Lumber can often provide roof trusses pre-assembled and delivered to the job site.
