Team Building in the Royal River.
Members of our Yarmouth team recently competed in the annual Royal River corporate canoe challenge, participating in a fun day of team building and competition. The event helps raise money for the Royal River Conservation Trust.
This four-leg, flat water canoe relay race supports the Royal River Conservation Trust and their plans to acquire and improve public paddling access points and shoreline habitat up and down the river, its tributaries, headwater ponds, and on Casco Bay. This organization greatly contributes to the stewardship of the Royal River watershed as well as many other local trails and community treasures.
The race’s relay format, with eight racers paddling four legs (two paddlers/leg) over 3-miles is designed as a team-building opportunity. It is a really fun event and this year Team Hancock surged on the final leg to match our 6th place finish from last year. The Hancock Lumber Anchor Bolts started the relay with Tom Jordan and Randy Farrington doing the first leg, Levi Curtis and Sarah Dube did the second leg, followed by the sister and brother team of Cassidy and Ryan Storey, and finishing up was Theo Bolmer and Matt Goodwin. Our last leg managed to pass three other canoes to allow us to finish in a respectable 6th place. It was a beautiful day for the race and it was all done with a great sense of community involvement and support.
